BASi Baby Bee Syringe Drives
The Baby Bee offers a unique alternative to traditional syringe pump design. Because the syringe drive is unbundled from the control mechanism, the pump is smaller (not much longer than a syringe) and much more versatile since a variety of controllers can be used for the same syringe drive. The user can start with a simple setup: a Baby Bee syringe drive and a variable flow rate controller. As the need arises for additional pumps, the controller can be substituted for a unit which manages multiple Baby Bees. Then, syringe drives can be added as needed. This approach eliminates the cost (in both dollars and lab space) of redundant power supplies, displays and controls in pump designs where the syringe drive is built into the control cabinet. You can add another syringe drive instead of an entire pump.
Applications requiring constant flow at low µL/min flow rates are well served by the versatile BASi Bee syringe pump products. Flexibility and economy are emphasized without sacrificing performance. The syringe drive (Baby Bee) is separate from the controller. Each Baby Bee holds one syringe, or up to three syringes when used with the optional bracket. Controller choices include a variable flow Worker Bee and the Bee Hive which controls up to four syringe drives. Bee pumps purchased with one controller can be upgraded by plugging into a higher level controller. Chemically passivated, gastight syringes ( Bee Stingers) with triple-sealed Teflon® plungers are also available in 500 µL, 1.0 or 2.5 mL sizes. Bee pumps can also use syringes ranging from 10 µL to 5.0 mL.
